Disposable society

My humidifier is broken. The little refill light stays on even though the tank is half full and the machine won't boil the water to create the steam. I could throw it out and buy a new one, or I could try to fix it. Guess which direction I'm leaning towards...

On the other hand, if anyone knows how to fix this type of humidifier, help!
